Abbey founded in the 9th century by Rodolphe de Turenne, Archbishop of Bourges. It is a building of majestic proportions, in the Limousin Romanesque style, in pale ochre sandstone, built according to the plans of a large monastic church of pilgrimage. It is dominated by a tower-keep.
This abbey church is best known for its remarkable carved tympanum from the early 12th century, a true masterpiece of Romanesque art. You can also admire its bedside, its modillions and the tacheron marks.
