The guided tour of the citadel through the tunnels allows to understand the defense system set up by Vauban with the cross-fire on the estuary and the withdrawal of the soldiers underground.

The guided tour of the citadel through the tunnels starts from the Place d'Armes and allows to understand the defensive system of the citadel set up by Vauban, famous architect of Louis XIV.
A first part of the visit is carried out outdoors in order to understand river side defense system with cross-fire on the estuary. Then the visit continues through the lines of defense through the underground. This makes it possible to understand the system of withdrawal of soldiers within the stronghold in case of siege.
The tour lasts one hour and includes a total of 130 steps to go up and down during the whole journey.
