The crypt of the Bayaà, built in 1865, covers the old Salt Fountain, historical and economic heart of Salies de Béarn, which was exploited since the Middle Ages.

Salies water contains about 300g of salt per liter of water, which is 10 times more than sea water, and is still used today at thermal baths and saline.
