After two years of work, the church of Saint-Barthélémy in Tersac, also known as the «church of the mariners» is again accessible to the public!

Perched on top of a mound that dominates the Garonne side canal, the church of Saint-Barthélemy retains the physiognomy of a Romanesque country church, with its apse, its single nave pierced with rare and small bays and its bell-tower combed in gable.
Also known as the «church of mariners», the chapel houses a 19th-century statue of Saint Nicolas, the patron saint of boatmen and mariners.
The weakened building was the subject of a safeguard program, the roof and maconneries were consolidated and restored. An interior restoration project can now be carried out, it will be presented to the public on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.

The Saint-Barthélemy church is perched above a mound that dominates the Garonne side channel. It consists of a single nave pierced by bays ending in apse, and a bell tower combed in gable. This typical Romanesque architecture dates from the 12th century but the church was profoundly modified during the 15th and 16th centuries.
The building was added to the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments in 1996 to protect it.
