Église Sainte-Valérie
Place Massy, 23170 Chambon-sur-Voueize
The church of Sainte-Valérie in Chambon-sur-Voueize, whose construction began at the beginning of the Middle Ages, was the church of the Benedictine monastery of the city. The monastery was founded at the end of the 10th century by the Abbey of Saint-Martial de Limoges. Very soon it sheltered the relics of Valérie, a Limousine saint of great importance, converted to Christianity by Saint Martial. This church became a parish church before the end of the Ancien Régime to replace the Saint-Martial church which had become too old.
