Heritage hike: in the footsteps of the maquisards
The new hiking circuit is just created in the town of La Croisille-sur-Briance: In the footsteps of the maquisards. The area was the scene of several events related to the Resistance during the Second World War, in the heart of the biggest maquis of the department led by Georges Guingouin. His action eventually led to the liberation of this territory in July 1944, nearly a year before the surrender of Germany (May 8, 1945)! To transmit this memory, the facts realized thanks to the courage and the abnegation of men and women who lived here and resisted: this is the object of this hike commented by the Country of art and history of Monts et Barrages and the ANACR (National Association of Veterans and Friends of the Resistance).
