A majestic castle in the heart of Mérignac, the Château de Bourran, a jewel of the 17th and 18th century, is now home to the École Supérieure du Professorat et de l'Éducation (Bordeaux Academy). The unique opportunity to discover the underside of this place rich in history, listed as Historic Monuments.

The classically inspired Castle was built for the amateur Ravesies who demolished the 18th century castle and built the current building. It has a rectangular plan and consists of 5 main buildings. The south facade of the central body is decorated with a neo-Renaissance style. The Parc de Bourran was created by the landscaper Le Breton around 1870\. Work was undertaken by the City prior to opening to the public in 1985 and by General Council in 1990\. Embellished with factories whose remains a bridge of medieval inspiration, a waterfall or a tower of neo-classical style, this park still reflects today its original function, that of renewing the interest of the promenade. The entire site, castle and park, was declared a Historical Monument in 1992.
