Discover Bordeaux from a feminist perspective to question the representation of women in local history and in public spaces.

In our cities, it is clear that women are the ones who are largely absent from the stories that are told. There are few monuments or mentions of female historical figures.
It is to counter this logic of invisibilization that helps to drive women out of the fields of history, memory and therefore of public space, that this circuit was born. At the crossroads of social history, gender studies and popular education, this visit aims to make heard the voices of the famous and ordinary women who shaped the destiny of Bordeaux.
However, it is not a question of making the history of Great Women as there is a history of «Great Men». This portrait gallery is above all a pretext to tell the «story of the power of women», as the historian of struggles Mathilde Larère put it, in order to highlight the evolution of the status of women at different times.
It is also an opportunity to question together the evolution of the place of women in our society and to resonate the issues of current feminist debates.
