In this 2022 season, Pompadour Castle opens its doors for free to the public.
This will be an opportunity to visit rooms usually closed to visitors such as the imposing frames or the clock. Great novelty this year, the opening of a room dedicated to the Chartreuse du Glandier. You will be able to see a statue of the virgin with the child holding in his hand the cross of chartreux as well as a model representing the Chartreuse after its reconstruction in the 19th century.
This new hall will be an integral part of the tour circuit.
The visit of the castle is divided into several parts. A first that will immerse you in the eighteenth century, with different stagings. Aubusson tapestries, Limoges porcelain, engravings and lithographs are all elements that you will have the opportunity to discover.
The second part is dedicated to the equestrian world. Traditional outfits, stud-book, unusual objects will make you discover the world of the horse. From the windows of the castle, do not miss the breathtaking view of the Pompadour racecourse.
Finally, the stables of the Marquise and the Orangerie house horses of private owners, heavy horses, and a presidential horse. At the back of the Marquise stable, horse-drawn carriages are exhibited.
The visit ends with the Orangerie Armoury, which houses the shows produced by the association.
