Explore this typical hamlet of the Mortainais to discover the potters of Ger. From the fifteenth to the beginning of the twentieth century, pots of sandstone for the preservation and transport of food were manufactured there in industrial quantities! The museum presents you the use of pots and the daily life of the past through a selection of objects, mood settings, playful modules, but also audiovisual shows. Walking through the workshop, the dryer and the large tunnel ovens, you will know everything about the process of making pots, from the extraction of clay to their delicate cooking. In the master potter’s house, you will understand the economic and social organization of this incredible pottery community. A creative centre, the site exhibits contemporary pieces produced by renowned ceramists. The museum also houses ceramicist Laure Reculé in her nursery-workshop. Come and meet her, discover her world and her production. The bread oven will also be in operation during the weekend, thanks to Bryan Penin, farmer baker. The exhibition "Bottling", the ceramic demonstrations as well as the pieces offered in the shop transport you to today’s creation.
