Blangy Hotel

Partly rescued from the bombing of June and July 1944, this private mansion houses a decor of chinoiseries unique in France. Built in 1710 at the request of Pierre François Le Viconte, Baron de Blangy who made it his home, the hotel then consists of three U-shaped wings opening onto a large garden.

He remained in the Blangy family until 1816 and in 1858 became the property of the Marcotte family. Inhabited by Léon Florentin Marcotte departmental architect, it then takes the name of hotel Marcotte.

Bought in 1908 by the charitable office of the city of Caen, now the Communal Center of Social Action, it still houses the services.

Free visit of the rooms from 14h to 17h45 limited to 30 minutes. 15 people maximum simultaneously. Explanatory texts made available and presence of a specialist of the place to answer your questions.

Historical presentation in the courtyard proposed at 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm (duration 10 min.)

Access to the hotel is through the modern porch of 9, rue de l'Engannerie (former Victor Priout foyer).

Hotel rooms not accessible to wheelchair users.

No backpacks allowed.
