The only monument of Romanesque art in the city, the Chapelle Saint-Julien is home to 12th-century murals. Built by Henry II Plantagenet, King of England and Duke of Normandy, the chapel was dedicated to worship until 1183. It then became a leper house, an annex to the Chartreuse Saint-Julien and then a hay barn.
