Gegenüber dem Transatlantic Maritime Station befindet sich ein großes rosa Gebäude, das Hotel Atlantique. Es wurde 1922 auf Initiative von drei großen Reedereien, die Cherbourg mit Amerika verbinden, erbaut und ist das Werk des Cherbourgeois-Architekten René Levavasseur. Dieses schöne Art-déco-Ensemble empfängt ständig 2.000 Auswanderer während der 10-15 Tage, die erforderlich sind, um ihre Verwaltungsformalitäten zu erledigen und sich den Gesundheitskontrollen zu unterziehen, bevor die große Reise in die Neue Welt beginnt. Die Tour bietet einen Einblick in die Zeit, als Cherbourg ein großer transatlantischer Hafen war, und ermöglicht den Eintritt in den schönen Pavillon mit dem Refektorium mit 800 Sitzplätzen, dem heutigen Ausschussraum der IHK.

In front of the transatlantic ferry terminal, a large pink building stands out: the Atlantic Hotel. Built in 1922 at the initiative of three major shipping companies linking Cherbourg to America, it is the work of Cherbourgeois architect René Levavasseur. This beautiful Art Deco ensemble welcomes 2,000 emigrants during the 10 to 15 days necessary to settle their administrative formalities and submit to health checks, before the big departure to the New World. The visit offers a dive into that time when Cherbourg was a large transatlantic port and allows to enter the beautiful pavilion housing the dining hall of 800 seats, current room of commissions of the CCI.

Di fronte alla stazione marittima transatlantica, un grande edificio rosa si impone alla vista: l'Hotel Atlantique. Costruito nel 1922 su iniziativa di tre grandi compagnie marittime che collegano Cherbourg all'America, è opera dell'architetto cherburghese René Levavasseur. Questo bellissimo complesso Art Deco accoglie costantemente 2.000 emigranti durante i 10-15 giorni necessari per regolare le loro formalità amministrative e sottoporsi ai controlli sanitari, prima della grande partenza verso il Nuovo Mondo. La visita offre un tuffo in quest'epoca in cui Cherbourg era un grande porto transatlantico e permette di entrare nel bel padiglione che ospita il refettorio di 800 coperti, attuale sala delle commissioni della CCI.

En face de la gare maritime transatlantique, un grand bâtiment rose s’impose à la vue : l’Hôtel Atlantique. Construit en 1922 à l’initiative de trois grandes compagnies maritimes reliant Cherbourg à l’Amérique, il est l’œuvre de l’architecte cherbourgeois René Levavasseur. Ce bel ensemble Art Déco accueille en permanence 2 000 émigrants pendant les 10 à 15 jours nécessaires pour régler leurs formalités administratives et se soumettre aux contrôles sanitaires, avant le grand départ vers le Nouveau Monde. La visite offre une plongée dans cette époque où Cherbourg était un grand port transatlantique et permet d’entrer dans le beau pavillon abritant le réfectoire de 800 couverts, actuelle salle des commissions de la CCI.

Construido en 1922 por iniciativa de tres grandes compañías marítimas que conectan Cherburgo con América, es obra del arquitecto cherburgués René Levavasseur. Este hermoso conjunto Art Deco acoge permanentemente a 2.000 emigrantes durante los 10 a 15 días necesarios para regular sus trámites administrativos y someterse a los controles sanitarios, antes de la gran partida hacia el Nuevo Mundo. El recorrido ofrece una inmersión en la época en que Cherbourg era un gran puerto transatlántico y permite entrar en el hermoso pabellón que alberga el refectorio de 800 cubiertos, actual sala de comisiones de la CCI.
