Located on the heights of the city, the temple of Montivilliers is the only surviving oval temple in France. It is also the only example known in France (with that of the Shield of Strasbourg) built in the form of a private mansion, probably not to attract the attention.
With its triangular pediment and Ionic columns it is typical of the classical style of the late eighteenth century.
