Officially created in 1872, the Louviers museum has been housed since 1888 in the current building, place Ernest Thorel, thanks to the generosity of Edouard Lanon who financed its construction in 1881 to present his collection bequeathed to the city. Between fine arts and textile industry, take a short break at the Louviers museum and discover its heritage treasures. The Textile Industry Gallery retraces the history of textile activity in Louviers. From the force to mow, to post-industrial revolution machines, through the Jacquard craft, this gallery is a guarantor of the memory of the drapier city. The Beaux-Arts Gallery presents the emblematic works of the museum by Jean Nicolle (17th century) to Benjamin Vautier called BEN (21st century) through the painters of the Ecole de Rouen (19th century).
