Commanderie Templière de Courval
3 route de Pontécoulant, Vassy, 14410 Valdallière
The preceptory of Courval is a preceptory of Templar origin founded around 1150\. After the fall of the Templars, she returned to the Hospitallers. Until the Revolution, it was a vast agricultural estate but also a stop on the Montois road linking Rouen to Mont-Saint-Michel. Rediscovered in the 1990s, the chapel of the XIIth and XIIIth centuries was classified as Historical Monuments for its interior paintings. The manor of the sixteenth century presents the beautiful characteristics of the renaissance manors of the Virois country. Abandoned for two decades, the Commanderie has just been bought by two architecture and landscape enthusiasts who aim to revive this place important for local history and in the collective imagination.
