Guided tour of the Archives exhibition: On the road and on the rail. Getting around in the Hauts-de-Seine
Guided tour of the exhibition that looks back on the origin of the road network, really structured in the eighteenth century, then on the rise of the railway, the territory of the Hauts-de-Seine having been crossed by the first train lines open to the public since 1837. The municipalities of the department then experienced a very dense network of tramway lines, while the landscapes were strongly marked by the development of the motorway network, especially in the 1970s. The exhibition ends on the renewal of the circulations (place du vélo, renaissance du tramway) and the major projects of the Department, in a context now marked by the challenges of sustainable development.
You will be able to see plans, posters, photographs, but also technical documents, for example from payments from the former Ponts-et-Chaussées services. Objects complete this exhibition as well as loans from the museum of the departmental domain of Sceaux, the Departmental Archives 78, the municipal archives services, the MUS of Suresnes.
A visit booklet and a children’s games booklet are available to visitors.
