Les Maisonnettes
2 place Lili-Boulanger 78440 Gargenville
Nadia and Lili Boulanger are two prominent figures in 20th century music. At the age of 20, Lili was the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome for musical composition. She died prematurely in 1918\. Nadia devoted herself mainly to pedagogy and led a long career as a teacher until her death at 92 years old. Les Maisonnettes is a set of three houses acquired by their mother in 1908\. Lili wrote most of her work there, making it an internationally renowned music teaching centre in 1924 and 1937\. Les Maisonnettes presents an auditorium with an unusual coffered ceiling designed for music. Igor Stravinsky, who stayed at Maisonnettes in 1939, particularly appreciated this work.
