In 1840, Georges Dumesnil bought the "Brasserie du Marché aux Chevaux" located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. In 1872, Georges Dumesnil teamed up with Pasteur to develop the first pasteurized beers, and in response to success, he moved to rue Dareau in the 14th arrondissement to increase production capacity.
The site of Rue Dareau, at the turn of the 1950s, became too narrow and led the Dumesnil family to buy the Richard brewery in Ivry-sur-Seine to modernize and develop it. Acquired in its turn in 1969 by Kronenbourg, the site of Ivry-sur-Seine is closed in 1978, then razed in 1982. Only remains of this industrial giant from the beginning of the century, the cellars and technical installations left in the wasteland when the site was abandoned to scrap dealers.
Since 2000, the OCRA association has volunteered a secure tour circuit to discover the history of this atypical place.
