House of Pierre Mac Orlan

The house looks exactly like the death of PMO in 1970, without reconstruction, with its real furniture and objects, left in the state. It shows the intimacy of the writer in his daily life: his paintings, his knick-knacks, his pipes, his little soldiers of lead... but also his dishes, his pots, his bathroom and his toilet... A few steps away, you will find the old Auberge de l'Oeuf dur, now rehabilitated, once again a bar in its "non-historic" part.

The house of Pierre Mac Orlan is located in Archets, hamlet of Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin. It reveals the writer’s intimacy and presents his daily living environment. Through a sensory visit and an intimate scenography that knows how to be discreet, entrusted to the architect Frédéric Beauclair, also author of the restitution of the house of Foujita in Villiers-le-Bâcle in the Essonne, visitors are immersed in the authentic world of the writer.
The scenographic bias consisted in restoring the house as it was in the 1960s, the last decade lived by Mac Orlan. It is thus evoked the rupture that constituted 1963, the year of the death of Marguerite, the wife of the writer. The house then loses its smell of pot-au-feu and Mac Orlan adapts to a life without companion.
