An outdoor art foundry!
At the installation of the Monnaie de Paris quai de Conti in 1775, the foundry was dedicated to the production of alloys and ingots for the manufacture of coins and medals. In 1973, the workshop was dedicated to art foundry and today it is one of the last art foundries in operation in the heart of Paris.
The work of this workshop includes the preparation of moulds, the casting of molten metal, the realization of a raw bronze foundry, the chiselling and, when the finishing requires, the hot patina.
On the occasion of the Journées Européennes du Patrimoine, the association Jehan Fondeurs de Beauce et d'Ailleurs, in collaboration with the art foundry of the Monnaie de Paris, will create molten metal castings in front of the public that will give birth to works of unique art.
Come and meet them and admire the magic of metal in transformation.
