Parc et château de Grouchy

The current Grouchy Castle dates from the 18th century, but preserves remains of the 10th and 11th centuries. Located in a park of 42 hectares, the castle faces a body of water and a huge lawn that highlights the main facade. The castle owes its name to the last private owners of the place, the Marquis Jean de Grouchy, great-grandson of the Marshal of Empire, Emmanuel de Grouchy, and the Marquise, born Lilian de Reiset, sole heir of the domain. Inscribed under the Sites in 1945, then added to the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments in 1990\. Built for Count Charles de Lameth, this residence, characteristic of the neoclassical style, is based however on an older construction, the first castle of Osny, realized in the first half of the seventeenth century, in place of a manor house. In 1987, Osny City Council bought the estate. The Castle houses the William Thornley Space, a post-impressionist painter who, installed in Osny in 1892, made 43 years his home port.
