Renewable energy at the Athletes' Village of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games: geothermal and photovoltaic energy
SOLIDEO pilot project
The Société de Livraison des Ouvrages Olympiques (SOLIDEO) was created in 2017 to finance, supervise and deliver the necessary facilities for the organization of the 2024 Games, which will be transformed into housing, offices, public facilities, in keeping with the concept of inheritance. As such, it coordinates no less than 29 public and private contractors, in charge of the construction of more than 60 Olympic and Paralympic structures.
One project, two meetings
Bordered by the Seine, ideally located in the heart of the Pleyel district, straddling the municipalities of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, Saint-Denis and L'Île-Saint-Denis, the Athletes' Village, under construction, will vibrate to the rhythm of the Paris 2024 Games. After this event, it will become, from 2025, a neighborhood to live, not only connected to its immediate environment – Old Saint-Ouen, Pleyel and the Seine – but also fully integrated into the metropolitan territory.
This transformation, which constitutes the backbone of the project, has been anticipated: the place of water and nature, the presence of places of life and sharing, the design of circulations within the neighbourhood… the whole area has been designed to make the Village comfortable, welcoming and lively in the long term. It is a question of winning the challenge of inheritance!
The Project House and its Prototype Garden, come and meet us
A place of information, friendly exchanges and meetings for local residents, planning professionals, national Olympic and Paralympic committees, occasional tourists and other curious, the Project House is intended to discover the Athletes' Village and the future city district under construction in the municipalities of Saint-Denis, Saint Ouen-sur-Seine and L'Ile-Saint-Denis.
Thanks to its 1,600m2 of indoor and outdoor spaces, the Project House and its garden of prototypes are intended to inform and welcome the public, Organize meetings and workshops with school, riverside and other audiences to build understanding of the Athletes' Village project and the SOLIDEO program in general.
Several tools are available on site to help you understand it: mock-ups of the project, a digital tool for digital immersion in the Athletes' Village, videos, exhibitions, documentation in French and English. The purpose of the prototype garden is to present the façades of the future buildings of the Athletes' Village, its urban furniture, its floorcoverings, the future species that will be planted there and the innovations that will be deployed there.
In its design, the Maison du Projet is in line with the values and commitments of SOLIDEO. It is accessible to all with facilities designed for people with reduced mobility and varied contents for an understanding of the project by the greatest number. Hoops have been installed at the entrance of the House for visitors who come by bike. Finally, the wooden cladding was made by architects and artisans from Seine-Saint-Denis and the furniture is partly the result of re-employment. For a tour of the Project House:
Workshop the small factory: renewable energies on the Athletes' Village: geothermal and photovoltaic
For a convivial moment with family or friends, the SOLIDEO offers you, in partnership with the Tourist Office of Plaine Commune Grand Paris and Partners for the City, a 2 hours workshop between 15h and 17h at the Project House of the Athletes Village. Identify the different energies and their sources in the heart of the Athletes' Village, with a workshop to concretely understand the production of electricity with the manipulation of a real photovoltaic module. The operation of a geothermal power plant will also be presented.
