Faust, open-air opera
This action is part of the Bus Opéra operation.
Sunday, September 18, the Massy Opera presents Faust in a direction by Julien Lamour.
Outside, the singers will be accompanied by a symphony orchestra of 40 musicians. This action allows the Massy Opera to sensitize all audiences to lyrical art.
History
Doctor Faust, a tired old scientist, thinks of ending it once and for all when Mephistopheles, the Devil, appears to him in the flesh: cunning, he makes Faust sign a pact that guarantees him a new youth in exchange for his soul. Seduced by the image of Margarita, which Satan made him appear to convince him, Faust goes immediately to seduce the beauty, who will offer little resistance to her rich gifts and her loving impulses. Mephistopheles, of course, does not fail to follow his steps and anticipate his every desire. Seduced and immediately abandoned by Faust, Marguerite kills the child she had from him. Imprisoned for her crime, she will give her own life to save her soul, despite the Devil’s contrary efforts to make it – like Faust – her own creature.
