Concert of the artist Kuamen at the Castle of La Maye
Kuamen is a multidisciplinary artist and winner of the 2022 Verrecchia Endowment Fund Grant. On the occasion of these European Heritage Days, the artist proposes a concert at the Château de La Maye gathering new works and sound recordings of his practice around stone sculpture.
Kuamen’s artistic work consists in telling the story of the African diaspora, through an anthropological study, in order to highlight its cultural contribution, but also to denounce certain forms of injustice against it. Through a variety of references and the use of several mediums, its goal is to question the notions of identity, territory, integration and acculturation.
During his residency at the Château de la Maye, the artist deals with the resonance and link between the «Athenian City» and the «Cities» of French suburbs in terms of culture and history, through the creation of a «ex-voto» in massive stone. In parallel to this sculpture, the artist created an integrated soundtrack, based on the sounds of elements that were used to cut the stone.
