The dome of Helfaut-Wizernes, or dome of Helfaut, is a bunker of the Second World War, today centre of history(story) and of report(memory), located in the municipality of Helfaut, near(about) Saint-Omer. Of code names Bauvorhaben 21 and Schotterwerk Nordwest, it was built by Nazi Germany between 1943 and 1944 to serve as a basis of launch for rockets V2 aiming at London and at the South of England. The most important structure of this complex, built in an old(former) career(quarry) of chalk, is a huge concrete dome where from its modern name comes. This dome was built above a network of tunnels, of warehouses, of installations of launch and of barracks.
