Over the past five years, the collections of the Château de Compiègne have been dramatically enriched. Without looking for completeness, this exhibition presents you the most important pieces. The variety of themes, periods and techniques is a reflection of the protean character of the heritage that the castle preserves.

History, art and dream: a surprising castle at the gates of Paris.
House designed for Louis XV, residence of Napoleon I, setting of imperial series under Napoleon III: the Château de Compiègne makes you enter in the magic of the recovered time. Succumb to the charm: delicacy of the tremière roses at the Salon des jeux de la Reine or grenadiers brought from Spain by Eugenie, red and gold from Marie-Louise’s room, sumptuous echoes of the immense ballroom wanted by Napoleon I… King or Emperor, Queen or Empress, each left his mark.
