Paper orchestra
Paper orchestra
A show by Max Vandervorst
Fragile by nature, the paper paradoxically evokes the solidity in that it is the support of the written word and the law, guaranteeing sustainability (while the words fly away).
Paper has a predominant symbolic function in our highly administrative societies. Not having one is almost equivalent to not existing: identity, diploma, bank note, title or action without forgetting the famous "vehicle papers…" The European Parliament has called for this in a police check.
Another paradox lies in the relative value of paper: a banknote, an image cut out of a magazine, a kleenex thrown in the trash do not have the same value. These are just three rectangles of paper…
Since the invention of musical notation, music has maintained an intimate yet indirect relationship with paper. Paper Orchestra will show you how paper can become directly sound matter. Max Vandervorst offers you an original instrumentarium that he developed during two years of research.
Immerse yourself in a true musical and poetic journey through time and the world.
