Église Saint-Maurice

The parish church of Saint-Maurice de Mommenheim was erected by the Benedictine abbey of Schwarzach. This institution, located on the right bank of the Rhine, was part of the property of the diocese of Strasbourg.
The church was newly rebuilt in 1759.
The extension of the nave by about ten metres occurred a century later in 1856\. The direction of implantation of the building is displaced by more than sixty degrees compared to the first Romanesque construction.
The exterior walls of the nave and the chancel are covered with mortar, the openings are semi-circular and the side door is framed with bricks without profiling.
The main door on the west side is more richly decorated.
The structure is covered with overlapping flat country tiles.
The choir of narrower width than the vessel ends on all three sides of an octagon.
