Located in the city’s Grandes Boucheries built in 1588, the Historical Museum offers a tour of the history of Strasbourg from the Middle Ages to the creation of European institutions. A selection of objects and a plan-relief of the city of 1727 allow to evoke the history of Strasbourg in three chapters: the free city of the Holy Roman Empire (1262-1681), the free city royal then revolutionary (1681-1800) and, since the end of 2013, new rooms present the collections of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the invoices that have made Strasbourg a regional metropolis and a European capital.
