Citadelle de Montmédy
La Citadelle, 55600 Montmédy
The first fortifications of Montmédy are built under Charles the Fifth in 1545\. They will be developed until the XVIIth century in the course of the Spanish ownership. The citadel, defended(forbidden) by Jean V d' Allamont, invested(surrounded) in June, 1657, is taken, in the presence of the young person Louis XIV and of Mazarin, in August, 1657 by Vauban, who(which) manages its first seat(siege) there. Vauban will add to it then modifications, then Séré of Rivers, from 1870.
