The fountain allowed the travelers to quench their thirst. Thus in the hollow of Bar’s ditch was put to use a source capable of feeding a wash-house. Abandoned, rediscovered in 1840, it was surrounded by a stone construction in 1851 Since 2016, under the direction of M. Valdenaire and M. Augendre, the students of EREA de Wassy have cleaned the site, disassembled and then rebuilt the fountain that was about to collapse.
