The tram station «Parc des Romains» is located on a two thousand year old road! In fact, it takes its name from the Roman road that was here, at the time of the emperors, and connected Divodurum Mediomatricorum (Metz) to Argentoratum (Strasbourg). The Route of the Romans, which crosses Koenigshoffen at the present time, has kept the exact route of this ancient route.
But the most important thing is what the excavations carried out in the last 10 years at this place have given as exceptional results! Since an ancient necropolis was discovered there, it is called «Allée des Tombeaux» and is one of the rare French examples of alignment of tombs.
