Created under the name of departmental Museum, it is one of the most old(former) of France. Re-installed(Re-settled) in 1861 thanks to an important legacy of Charles Picot, he(it) keeps(preserves) extremely rich and manifold encyclopaedic collections which count about 150 000 rooms(parts,plays). Edifiées between 1879 and 1906 along the place(square) Godart, its permanent rooms present to the public of the collections of paintings(paints) (the XVth century - XXth century), medieval archaeology and sculpture of Renaissance, and a cabinet(office) of ornithology kept(preserved) to a great extent in its home state which presents about 2000 naturalized birds resulting(coming) from the whole world.
