This conference will highlight the major role played by the city of Reims during the conflict and the period of occupation, putting in parallel the national and the local in order to make rediscover to the Reims, but also to the Cormontreuillois, a page of their history. The role of Simon Dauphinot, whose street of Cormontreuil bears the name, will be evoked, as well as the story of François Augé, a simple worker shot by the Prussians on September 7, 1870 on the border of Reims and Cormontreuil.
At the end of this conference, a visit will take place to the place of the execution of François Augé located nearby. A monument was installed there in 1896 by the French Souvenir.
