Free visit of the permanent collection: "From Giotto to Corot. Six centuries of painting"
Completely renovated and open again to the public since spring 2019, the art galleries of the Museum of Fine Arts do not remain frozen. Also, thanks to new acquisitions and a public vote, the permanent course is enriched by new paintings and even some pieces of furniture.
Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Museums of Art and History, a new painting due to the Troyen Jacques de Létin entered the municipal collections. This painting, which remained for centuries in the painter’s descendants, is at once a representation of the allegory of Grammar (that is to say, at the time, language learning)… But also the artist’s wife!
In addition, on a pre-selection of 10 works and works of art proposed by our curator, on our website and our Facebook page in October 2020, a vote was submitted to Internet users allowing them to choose which ones would be removed from the reserves, to take place in the tour route. Nearly 300 voters expressed their choices. Between the ebony cabinet, the Boulle Medallion, the ancient lion-shaped sleigh, the sunsets of Charles Cuisin or the 18th century genre scenes… Who will join the permanent route? You will have to come to the museum to find out.
