The Society of Sciences and Arts of Vitry-le-François has gathered, within its new premises, a particularly rich local and regional documentation. Discover all the local history.

Created in 1861, the Société des sciences et arts de Vitry-le-François aims to “contribute to the progress and spread” of knowledge. The work, carried out by members of the society, focuses on natural history, history and local archaeology.

The courthouse was the seat of the Vitry-le-François District Court which was abolished during the 2007 reform of the judicial map. Since then, the municipality has depended on the courts of jurisdiction, the courts of first instance, commercial, administrative and children’s courts, as well as the Châlons-en-Champagne court. It is attached to the Court of Appeal of Reims and the Administrative Court of Appeal of Nancy.
The association Sciences et Arts invested the former court at the end of December 2020.
