Free visit of the castle of Talcy

A poetic castle. Cassandre, the daughter of the first owner, inspires the poet Ronsard the famous verses «Mignonne, let’s see if the rose...» Diane, his niece, is the muse of the young Agrippa d'Aubigné. Cassandre’s daughter counts Alfred de Musset in her direct descendants. One of the last owners, Albert Stapfer, was the first translator of the German poet Goethe.

About the location

Château de Talcy
18 rue du Château, 41370 Talcy
  • Loir-et-Cher
  • Centre-Val de Loire
Built in 1520 for the Italian banker Bernardo Salviati, this charming house carries the imprint of loves of his Muses, Cassandre and Diana, with the poets Ronsard and Agrippa d' Aubigné. Facing the plain of Beauce ligérienne, the castle raises itself(draws itself up) in a green setting witness(baton) of its past of agricultural domain. Faithful to regional architecture, the castle kept(guarded) the rough aspect of the Gothic castles in Beauce Blésoise, but the elegant gallery, the well, inside furnished(filled) with a furniture of the XVIIIth century bring a note(mark) of delicacy to the place, which offers to the visitors a large garden, today redeveloped in orchard of collections (apple trees, pear trees, raspberry canes, hazels etc). In attached or free forms, his(her, its) massifs of annual or enduring flowers decorate the fruit collections of variety.
