Cradle of the La Taille family, this manor house still has visible vestiges of its primary function, a fortified gate and its two square towers, equipped with loopholes of the 14th-16th centuries. The origins of the castle date back to the 13th century. Located on the northern slope of the Essonne valley (or Œuf), at the right of a fording crossing, downstream of Pithiviers, one of the most important cities of Beauce today, its appearance has varied greatly over time. Only the old castle, a 14th century turret, the 15th century entrance castle and the 16th century facade remain. Throughout its history, it was an island of resistance against the invader during the Hundred Years War and then became a place of combat and refuge for the Huguenot lords during the Wars of Religion. Many of its owners took part in the great battles of the feudal era. Partially listed as historical monuments.
