The Thésée lock house is one of the improvements made on the Cher, between 1836 and 1841, to channel the river, following the construction of the Berry Canal. It complements a device consisting of a needle dam, a weir and a lock. The lock houses on the edge of Cher have the particularity of housing two dwellings: for the barragiste and for the lock.
