- Centre-Val de Loire
The first one of "Châteaux of the Loire " by its geographical situation, The castle is an old(former) medieval fortress built on a headland dominating the Val de Loire, leads to predict in no way its quite pleasant, open fan-shaped courtyard as if to welcome the visitors better. Plan hexagon of the primitive(initial) fortress of the XIIth century served as a basis over the years, in a juxtaposition of round and square towers confining(quartering) a continuation(suite) of wings of styles and different times(periods). Just like its architecture, the visit of fourteen rooms(parts, plays) furnished(filled) (with the cooking(kitchen) in skeletons) presents a manorial house of character in which followed one another of the famous families such as Courtenay, of Kleve, the Juvénal des Ursins and Séguier. Left to the municipality in 1987 by Anne de Ranst de Berchem, the castle is managed by the Association of the Friends of the Castle of Saint-Brisson in delegation of public service. The castle presents exhibitions(exposures) regularly in its art gallery while, in staves(moats), impressive war machines, perfect retorts(replicas) of the Middle Ages, start up for demonstrations of shootings(firings) with artillerymen.
