A singular phenomenon in the history of written heritage, fragments of manuscripts from the Middle Ages were used in the 18th century for the robustness and flexibility of parchment without taking into account what was written or painted on it. Long neglected, these fragments are now the object of research and identification. Their presentation in the exhibition will allow to rediscover precious testimonies of the art of illumination. It is also an opportunity to learn more about the techniques of conservation and restoration of archival documents so that, whatever their period, they constitute a lasting heritage.
