How to convert a bank, by nature closed, into an open building, intended to accommodate the widest possible audience?
This was the aim of the project carried out by the Architecture agency Patrick Mauger, which wanted to "respect the philosophy of the former Bank of France" while creating a contemporary layout.
Opened in January 2017, this space has become a real third-place, lively, open, bright, colorful and comfortable...which offers many services to users.

Inaugurated on 27 January 2017, the Le Dôme media library is located in the former premises of the Banque de France, opposite the Saint-Claude Cathedral. The building was the subject of an architectural project led by the firm Patrick Mauger. The challenge was to convert an austere building, by definition closed, into an open, bright, pleasant place, in the spirit of the «3rd place» libraries. The interior of the building, completely taken over, is now equipped with a dome overlooking the two mezzanine floors dedicated to the reception of the public. An auditorium replaces the vault.
