Visit of the church of St Gervais
Free visit of the church St Gervais St Protais de Ouagne. Ouagne, a charming rural town of 150 inhabitants, has one of the most remarkable churches of the Nièvre by its vaults and pillars. It belonged to the former diocese and archpriesthood of Auxerre. Dedicated to Saint Gervais and Saint Protais and dating from the early 16th century, it is a building in flamboyant style, except the bell tower which dates from the late 18th century, simple square tower. It has been included in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments since 1971. The building was in a state of peril and underwent a major restoration over 2020 and 2021 to ensure its integrity, including structural and roofing repairs, drainage, and civil engineering restoration.
