armi all the solutions chosen by man to cover his constructions, two seem to defy the laws of gravity: the vaulted arches and the claved vaults. In Tournugeois, we find the first implementation in the cadoles, dry stone shelters built by the winemakers. As for the latter, they are the originality of the many Romanesque churches in the region.

Cloister of the abbey of Tournus, of which only the north wing remains from the Romanesque period, leaning against the abbey church of Saint-Philibert. The east wing, leaning against the chapter house, has been partially rebuilt. The south and west wings along the refectory and dormitories have disappeared.
