Built on a volcanic peak, the Château de Saint-Ilpize dominates the Allier valley with all its power. Only the various enclosures, the restored Romanesque chapel, and the seigneurial tower that now houses the village bell tower remain. The majestic site offers stunning views of the Allier and the surrounding villages.

Old(Former) medieval castle surrounded with powerful ramparts, its majestic ruins dominate the Allier about 150 m. The castle is almost entirely dismantled but the castrale chapel Saint cross, with its bell tower arcade recently restored, is a jewel of the Romanesque art.
