The castle of Domeyrat is a property of the Département de la Haute-Loire, it is managed, animated and maintained by the association domeyrat Réinventé! The castle has signed a 50-year lease. It is intended for the rehabilitation of the site its maintenance and do consolidation and restoration work. The castle dates from the late XI early XII century. It is built by the Papaboeuf. In the fourteenth century it was rebuilt by the bishop of Clermont Martin Couge de Champeigne. It became the house of the Langheacs, the Seneschal of Auvergne and the house of the Larochefoucauld. The latter will make it an exceptional residence by bringing magnificent paintings. It will be dismantled and pillaged during the revolution. It remains a landmark monument of the Haute-Loire by its state of conservation and its paintings in particular. Open to the public for 3 years thanks to the association Domeyrat Réinventé, which offers guided tours. For the European Heritage Day, the association opens the site
