The visit leads to the discovery of the production building, the gardens and the prestigious architecture, this power plant commissioned in 1918 by Charles-Albert Keller and now stopped. The route extends to the Romanche Museum and the EDF Hydrélec Museum, for a complete look at the history of the Romanche valley and hydroelectricity. In the midst of global conflict, it is necessary to provide electrical power to produce weapons. In September 1918, after a rapid construction, the Vernes hydroelectric power station was commissioned in Livet. Its designer, Charles-Albert Keller, has built a production building that resembles a villa, gardens, and double-flight staircase. It has a prestigious industrial architecture, combining the care of architectural detail with the technical constraints of production. In 1994, it was classified as a Historical Monument, while generating groups still produce. In 2020, the power plant definitively stops its production.

In the midst of world conflict, it is necessary to provide electrical energy to produce armaments. In September 1918, after a rapid construction, the Vernes hydroelectric power station was commissioned at Livet. Its designer, Charles-Albert Keller, plans to build a production building that looks like a villa, gardens, double-decked staircase, with prestigious industrial architecture, combining the care of architectural detail with technical production constraints. In 1994, it was classified as a Historic Monument, while the generating units still produce. In 2020, the plant will permanently stop production.
