Visit of the Espace Saint-Eloi (forge, Savoie jewellery, Tarentaise Baroque space)
Espace Saint-Eloi is located in the heart of the village of Séez. This building, which formerly housed a forge, has been rehabilitated to accommodate an exhibition area of approximately 170m².
It presents three themes: the work of the Forge, Savoyard jewellery and Baroque art.
The visit will allow to appreciate the life of the blacksmith in a reconstituted space. The blacksmith, with all his art, transforms metal into various objects using the heat of fire, the force of water and the tools he himself has made to help him in his work*.
Jewellery reveals Savoie’s unique jewellery collection. More than 200 jewels (crosses, hearts, brooches, etc.) are exhibited, witnesses of belonging to a community, a religion or a culture, and which have adorned the chests of the Savoyardes for centuries. The jewellery workshop presents the techniques and the history of this trade. Today, jewellery from Savoie is always made and worn*.
The Tarentaise Baroque Space gives the keys to reading Savoyard Baroque art. It makes it possible to take a different and complementary look to the visit of baroque sites.
The expansion of the museum in 2015 made it possible to renovate the jeweler’s workshop and the jewellery presentation room.
You will discover the photo exhibition of the moment "Haute Tarentaise, versant sauvage" proposed by Sophie DUNAJEV.
