Die Standseilbahn ist ein seltenes Stück des europäischen Eisenbahnerbes, die sogenannte «Kleine Metro évianais». Es wurde 1907 eingeweiht und diente dem Transport von Kurgästen aus den großen Hotels oberhalb von Evian zur Quelle, zur Thermalbar und zum Thermalbad.

The funicular railway constitutes a rare piece of European railway heritage, which is called «the small metro of Evian». Inaugurated in 1907, its function was to transport the curists from the major hotels located on the tops of Evian to the spring, the spa and the spa.

La funicolare costituisce un pezzo raro del patrimonio ferroviario europeo, che si chiama «la piccola metropolitana evianese». Inaugurato nel 1907, la sua funzione era quella di trasportare i frequentatori dai grandi alberghi situati sulle alture di Evian verso la sorgente, il bar termale e lo stabilimento termale.
